I knew early on that for my senior capstone I wanted to make something to give back the the next generation of student designers to help benefit their degree experience. STU came to life after much research about effective design forums such as behance, dribble, and reddit. I narrowed my scope to student designers so they had a community that they felt most comfortable in and so that they could build communities. I chose to make the branding fun and flexible with a bright color palette and a versatile type set. With help from designer friends and classmates I prototyped how this website would flow and take life with actual student designer work.

Most studio courses fail to account for the individual needs and preferences that designers have to feel comfortable with feedback. Critiques can be scary and isolating. Students need an outlet where they can craft the way their work is presented, recieve quick advice, and form communities as they prepare to enter their design careers.

STU is a studio forum for student designers with an emphasis on process and experimentation. The website offers a selection of ways to present in-process and completed work. Designers gain confidence and visibility of their projects while strengthening their ability to give and receive quality critiques.

STU is geared toward student designers in college or grad school, that are pursuing a creative degree. These students are looking for some more tailored feed-back on their designs or are looking for a new perspective. Connections made here can benefit future careers.
